The same week an 8-year-old boy from Soest, Germany, gave his mother the scare of a lifetime after he stole her Volkswagen Golf and took it for a joyride on the autobahn, he did it again.
The first time, his mother and the police were happy that he was not hurt, and even slightly amused by his explanation that he wanted “to drive a little bit.” There were no immediate repercussions because the boy made sure he pulled over into a parking lot the moment he became uncomfortable with reaching speeds in excess of 85mph.

This time, he’s not getting off the hook that easily, DW reports.

According to the police, late last Friday, the boy stole his mother’s Golf again and drove about 31 miles (50 kilometers) in it before he came to a stop. When his mother realized that he was missing, she again called the police and a search for the vehicle was launched.

When the Golf was eventually found, it had crashed into the trailer of a parked truck. Eyewitnesses told police that, during the wild joyride, the kid reached speeds of 110mph, running red lights and ignoring all traffic laws.

Despite the serious crash, neither the boy nor anyone else was injured. However, his mom’s Golf took a lot of damage, the report adds. This time, the kid doesn’t get points for being cautious and / or somewhat responsible (if you can ignore the fact that he’s an 8-year-old at the wheel of a car, that is).

“Police said the boy, who has experience driving bumper cars and go-karts, will now be provided psychological counseling,” the report says.

Indeed, when news of his first joyride broke, his mother was quick to tell the media that he was never in much danger since he had experience with driving road-legal vehicles on private property and go-karts and bumper cars.
