When Brabus entered the ginormous premises of the Frankfurt Motor Show last year they also brought what was arguably their largest lineup of modified Mercedes-Benzes in history.
The crème de la crème was most definitely represented by their new 5.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8, an absolute monster of an engine, based on the respected M157 powerplant from the AMG stable.

The borderline insane tuning specialists from Bottrop got their hands on the already powerful 5.5-liter V8 with two turbochargers from the E 63 AMG (among other models, ed) and did a number of unspeakable things to it, resulting in a massive power and torque increase.

OK, those things aren't exactly unspeakable, as we're actually talking about a displacement increase from 5.5 liters to 5.9 liters, a pair of increased compressors for the turbochargers, a more free-breathing exhaust system, new engine management and a pair of gold-plated intake intake ducts.

The result is pretty mouth watering, with the horsepower having increased from the standard 557 hp (or 585 hp in the S-Models) to no less than 850 hp. At the same time the not-too-shabby 720 Nm (531 lb ft) of torque were increased to a downright insane 1450 Nm (1069 lb ft) of torque.

Since that amount of torque could probably reverse the Earth's rotation after a hard launch, while the drivetrain of the car that is fitted with the engine would probably implode, Brabus engineers decided to limit it to “just” 1150 Nm (848 lb ft) of torque.

Paired with the body of a Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG 4Matic that has also passed through the skilled hands of the tuning specialists from Brabus, the new engine can give it a naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration of just 3.1 seconds.

The car in the adjacent images is fitted with that engine, hence the “Brabus 850” nameplates on it, and is currently the fastest sedan with a warranty on the planet. How do you fancy the muscle-car color?
