With just one week separating us from the moment when the 2016 drift season kicks off, Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s Ford Mustang RTR has recently hit the dyno, in preparation for this year's offensive.
The sideways-prepared S550 'Stang visited the dyno room to put its Roush Yates aluminum V8 to the test. As you'll be able to notice in the piece of footage below, the massive turbo strapped to the engine delivers quite the blow. In fact, it's enough to check out the aural side of the clip to understand how vicious this machine is.

When it comes to the specs, the 436ci V8 can deliver up to 900 ponies, while working with an Andrews 4-speed dog box (racing-style tranny with large teeth). With the contraption tipping the scales at just 2,800 lbs, the resulting spectacle is guaranteed.

Those of you who aim to stay up to date with the top tier sideways moments of the year should check out the season schedule mentioned below:
  • April 8-9 World Championship + Pro Championship Long Beach, CA
  • April 15-16 Invitational Long Beach, CA
  • May 6-7 World Championship + Pro Championship + PRO 2 Atlanta, GA
  • May / June World Championship + Japan Championship Ebisu, Japan
  • June 3-4 World Championship + Pro Championship + PRO 2 Orlando, FL
  • June 17-18 World Championship + Pro Championship Wall, NJ
  • July 15-16 World Championship + Pro Championship Montreal, Canada
  • August 5-6 World Championship + Pro Championship Monroe, WA
  • September 9-10 World Championship + Pro Championship + PRO 2 Fort Worth, TX
  • September World Championship + Japan Championship Okayama, Japan
  • September 30 – October 1 PRO 2 + Pro Am Phoenix, AZ
  • October 7-8 World Championship + Pro Championship Irwindale, CA
While the official races are nicely laid out in front of us, we can't wait to see what other kinds of slip angle stunts will take pace throughout the year. For instance, the driver used his RTR Mustang to go up against Daigo Saito's Lamborghini Murcielago, the world's first Lambo drift car, in a memorable Japanese battle that took place late last year, so we can't imagine him sticking to the official schedule and calling it a day for 2016.
