The BMW E46 3 Series range never got a sedan M3 and some people hurried to say that the sedan was a rather slow car compared to the Coupe models. That was all just crazy talk, of course, as the top of the range 4-door, the 330xi was quick enough, doing the 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in 6.5 seconds.
Yeah, it wasn’t mind blowing but for a 3-liter aspirated engine it was enough. This model also came with all-wheel drive, one of the precursors of what we call xDrive today. Back then it was almost completely different from what we know now but it still got the job done in drag races like the one below.

However, that’s not a regular 330xi right there but a heavily modified one that has no less than 700 horsepower at the wheels. We don’t actually have a dyno chart at hand to prove these claims but judging by how that Porsche got slapped, we tend to believe them.

The poster, Gustav from GTBoard.com, claims that the E46 achieved that number thanks to a turbocharger, PPF rods, forged pistons and E85 fuel. On the other hand, the poor Porsche 9ff 911 GT2 going up against it has around 600 horses to compete with.

In the end, the Bimmer basically blows the doors off the Porsche and wins the drag race in a comforting style. It’s nice to see the older models still being kept alive and well, tuned beyond anyone’s expectations.
