It’s become a sort of tradition for the guys from MotorTrend to organize their own internal competition to choose what they think is ‘The best driver’s car’ each year. This year they went ahead and did it again and the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 won. While we don’t agree with their result, we still have to respect their opinion.

But what will happen if all the contenders got involved in a drag race? This sort of thing ended up being called the world’s greatest drag race and it does have some impressive challengers in it. The fourth edition, that took place this year, saw two BMWs going up against each other and the rest of the crowd.

The BMW M4 ended up on the fifth place in their competition, failing to grab the title of the best driver’s car. Considering there was a Nissan GT-R Nismo at play alongside a Porsche 911 Turbo, we think that’s rather justifiable. The Bimmer was also outshone by the aforementioned Camaro and while we do understand how the other two are better than the M car, in the case of the Camaro we’re rather reserved.

It’s a muscle car, after all, right? Therefore, the American should have no problem in proving its worth in a drag race. Wrong, apparently. Despite having more than twice the engine under the bonnet and alomost 100 extra horses to the wheels, the Chevy was defeated by the smaller, lighter BMW M4.

Furthermore, the i8, a car using a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine, was really close to it, breathing down the American’s neck and posting a time that was just 0.1 seconds slower. That’s efficiency, right there!

The entire thing is rather interesting as well, with the two leaders with the best power to weight ratios being clear winners. The third place went to the 550 HP supercharged Jaguar F-Type Coupe R while the M4 finished fourth, right where we anticipated it would.
