LEGO is one of the biggest Star Wars fans in the world. At least that's the feeling I get from where I'm standing as I watch how the Danish company releases set after set after set of related plastic brick models. The latest such unveiling: the Star Wars Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser engineering project.
For those of you not very in the loop with the Star Wars universe, a Venator class attack cruiser (aka Venator-class Star Destroyer) is a huge spaceship that was flown by the Republic and later passed on to the Empire.

Designed as a capital ship, it was supposedly 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) long, was shaped like a wedge, and was meant to be used as both a battleship and a troop transport. It's most visible in the Clone Wars, as it was the backbone of the Republic fleet back then.

As it happens, in 2023 Star Wars fans are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Clone Wars animated series, so LEGO, the big fan of the universe that it is, was not about to miss such an occasion. Especially given how fans apparently asked for a Venator to be made available in plastic brick form.

And LEGO delivered, as this week it spilled the first details on the Star Wars Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser building set. Set to launch on October 1, the toy (can I call it that?) is the first Clone Wars building set ever to be added to the Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series.

The Venator is formed after assembling a total of 5,347 pieces, and ends up being absolutely huge: 109 cm (43 inches) in length and 54 cm (21 inches) in width. And it visually gets even bigger, as it can be propped on a built-in stand.

The set includes, apart from the Venator itself, two minifigures, that of Captain Rex and Admiral Yuralen. A plaque on the stand and a hangar holding a Republic gunship are also part of the deal. As a touch of uniqueness, a brick celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Clone Wars is thrown into the mix.

As said, LEGO will launch the Star Wars Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser building set on October 1, but only for insiders. The rest of the world will get it a few days later, on October 4. The company behind the set advertises it as suitable for adults (especially given its price, as you'll see below) – although, to be fair, children will love it all the same.

Being a rather large Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series set, the Venator does not come cheap. Depending on where you live in this world, you can have one for $649.99, or £559.99, or €649.99.
