It’s definitely not easy to film from inside a 550 HP BMW E46 M3 and it’s even harder to drive such a car, considering the rear-wheel-drive configuration and the older transmission. That doesn’t mean people won’t try, though.
TypeRace8 had the chance to go for a ride inside such a beast and came back to tell the story. According to the owner of the car, this little Coupe is faster around the Nurburgring than his other racer, a 620 HP Nissan GT-R.

That says a lot about the hard work the Motorsport division engineers put into making this car. The fact that it’s not only capable to keep up with a highly sophisticated, all-wheel-drive GT-R but to also go faster around a proper race track, shows that there simply is no replacement for a properly tuned chassis.

That’s also why the new M3 and M4 will have no problem facing their adversaries on the track, even though they might have more horsepower. We’re talking, of course, about the upcoming C63 AMG model that is rumored to have a lot more grunt at its disposal than the Bavarian.

The 550 HP of this M3 was achieved thanks to an ESS Supercharger and a Supersprint exhaust. The interior was also stripped and the rear seats, door panels and windows were replaced with lighter materials such as plastic (for the windows) and carbon fibre. Check it out!
