Quite a few good months after the bonkers Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG was launched there were moments of silence from most three-pointed star tuners out there.
It was either from the fear inspired by the looks and prefromance of anti-social hot-hatch or the fact that AMG engineers made the M133 engine's electronics a bit harder to figure out by after-market specialists.
Either way, in recent weeks there has been an increase in tuning packages for the feisty A 45 AMG, with both RENNtech and Rebellion Automotive working on 400+ hp projects for the model.
Today is the time for the Germans from mcchip-dkr to show their tuning prowess, with the following devil-red A 45 AMG sporting no less than 450 hp and 550 Nm (406 lb ft) of torque.
mcchip-dkr actually has three different tuning packages for the two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, increasing its standard 360 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque in increments of 40 hp, 20 hp and 30 hp.
Stage one consists of a software optimization which gives the M133 engine 400 hp and 535 Nm (395 lb ft) of torque, while the stage two also includes sport catalysts, upping the power to 420 hp and leaving the 535 Nm (395 lb ft) torque numbers untouched.
Stage three brings the full 450 hp and 550 Nm (406 lb ft) of torque with the help of a turbocharger upgrade. You can order the first stage this Christmas but you'll have to wait for Stage 2 and 3 until February 2014.
