One day ago, Toyota posted a shadowy teaser pic on social media of a future model. Rather than spilling the beans on the upcoming vehicle, Toyota preferred to play a game of guess with everyone.
Although some peeps believe it’s the all-new Corolla, it’s more likely for the shadowy teaser pic to feature the all-new Camry. Not only is the mid-size car a bit older in Toyota’s global lineup, but as you’re well aware, the Camry sells better as well.

Last year, the good ol’ Camry totaled 295,201 deliveries in the US alone. Only the RAV4 (399,941 units), Ram P/U (468,344), Silverado (515,354), and F-Series (653,957) sell better. The Corolla ranked 12th with 222,216 deliveries under its belt.

Codenamed XV80, the ninth generation (of the global model) is expected to be revealed next month at the LA Auto Show. In other words, the all-new Camry is supposed to go live on or right before the November 16 media and industry day. In the meantime, pixel artist Halo oto has recently worked Toyota’s teaser photo into a full-blown rendering.

As you can tell from the screenshots attached in the gallery, Halo oto tried to stay as true to the source material. On the other hand, the signature lighting of the headlights does seem a little fussy. The canards on the lower sides of the front bumper are missing as well. In any case, this is our best look yet at the soon-to-be-unveiled 2025 Camry.

Beauty is – of course – in the eye of the beholder. The Camry’s exterior design may not be to everyone's liking, but the interior will certainly be perceived as an improvement over the 2024 model. Given the Prius- and Crown-inspired signature lighting up front, it’s likely for the Camry to borrow a few bits and pieces from those cars. The most obvious candidates are the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system (a.k.a. Toyota Audio Multimedia system).

The XV70 gets 7 inches as standard or 9 inches on higher grades. Engine choices include a 2.5-liter I4, 2.5-liter I4 with hybrid assistance, and a 3.5-liter V6. The latter might be discontinued for the XV80 in favor of the 2.4-liter turbocharged I4 engine introduced in 2021 for the second-gen Lexus NX.

Internally referred to as T24A-FTS, the four-cylinder lump was developed from the outset as the replacement for the 2GR series of powerplants. Both front- and rear-biased vehicles use the 2.4er, including the 2024 model year Tacoma pickup and the 250-series Land Cruiser (a.k.a. the Prado).

Without hybrid assistance, said engine is connected to an eight-speed auto. But otherwise, it’s mated to a six-speed transmission rather than an eCVT. The Dynamic Force 2.5-liter engine is also compatible with the aforementioned eight-speed auto, whereas the Camry Hybrid sports an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission that mimics a six-speed automatic.

That being said, look forward to slightly higher prices across the board. For future reference, the 2024 Toyota Camry currently starts at $26,420 for the 2.5 and $28,855 for the hybrid-infused 2.5er.
