The Japanese automaker has a lot of credo on the American market – but it always strives for more. No worries, they're usually taking the right turns, both on and off the beaten roads.
Think about it for a second. After the first three months of the year, they breathed in the neck of General Motors because the latter slipped by 1.5%, and Toyota soared by more than 20 percent during Q1. They are also relentlessly launching new models, including the N400 Tacoma mid-size pickup truck, the Lexus GX 550 luxury SUV, the returning 2024 Land Cruiser, the upcoming 2025 Camry, the 2025 Crown Signia crossover SUV, as well as the sixth generation 4Runner.
The latter is everyone's darling, as of late – perhaps even more so than the related Lexus GX 550, Land Cruiser, or the N400 Tacoma sibling. Of course, there are many reasons for this attitude – the pent-up expectations as the fifth generation lasted on the market for around 15 years, the potential to give the Ford Bronco and especially the Jeep Wrangler a good run for their off-road money, the return of the electrically-operated rear glass, or the access to both ICE-only and hybrid power in terms of powertrains.
Some might argue that it's just an N400 Tacoma with an enclosed bed due to the two of them sharing the TNGA-F body-on-frame architecture, most of the design traits, and 99% of the interior styling and features. However, others will say that's a mighty good thing because it was about time the legendary and beloved 4Runner stepped into the 21st century's 2020s with the eight-speed automatic transmission and choice of turbo and turbo hybrid inline-four i-Force and i-Force Max 278- and 326-hp powertrains.
Others, even though they belong to the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, are a bit more practical. As such, although they usually tend to be unofficial visions, the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube have (again) imagined the CGI looks of numerous colorful 4Runner SUVs - both inside and out. This is their way of helping people decide about their favorite 4Runner before the official configurator is up and running across Toyota's official online portal.
Remember, although the Japanese automaker announced most of the details regarding the 2025 model year 4Runner, it also withheld some major information – they only showed the flagship Limited, TRD Pro, and new Trailhunter trims in a limited selection of colors, plus there's no information regarding pricing. The rumor mill can only do so much about the latter problem because the 4Runner is not due into nationwide dealerships until the fall season, but the hues are easier to imagine thanks to the channel's resident pixel master – both inside and out.
