Following an uncharacteristically short teaser campaign, the Japanese automaker Toyota is preparing to unleash yet another crucial off-road 4x4 SUV - the 2025 Toyota 4Runner mid-sizer, which will finally arrive all-new on April 9, 2024.
It's been a long road, though, as the N280's fifth iteration arrived back in 2009 – no less than fifteen years ago. It has steadily grown long in the tooth ever since, but the fan base is relentless, and the V6-powered off-road SUV is still selling strong even today. Nevertheless, it was clearly time for a change, as announced by its N400 Tacoma sibling already.

The Japanese automaker registered some great results across the US automotive market after the first three months of the year – the Q1 sales of 565,098 vehicles, due to a very solid 20.3% growth on a volume basis, were enough to keep it on the trail of GM's minus 1.5% slip-up to 594,233 units. Clearly, with a little help from additional all-new or refreshed models, it could end the year on top of the US market.

As such, it's in their best interest to present the 2025 4Runner as soon as possible and then send it into production – but before that, we still have to wait a little longer for the official introduction. Well, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is clearly not adept at the waiting game. Thus, many pixel masters and news channels have resorted to unofficially uncovering the 4x4's digital secrets.

The good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube also have a satellite venue dubbed AutoYa Interior, and that's where all the (CGI) Toyota action occurs – the normal venue covers the important front and rear POVs with the resident pixel master working with the latest teaser images and spy photos of prototypes. Meanwhile, the latter focuses on the cockpit view, and they're both awash in ritzy color options for the mid-size off-road SUV.

Secondly (or thirdly, if you count the videos, not the CGI hosts), the Halo oto channel on YouTube provides fresh automotive info corroborated with their virtual designs; now, there are new CGI ideas about the 4Runner over there, too. They're more restrained, though, so take it or leave it – preferably with a pinch of salt, as these renderings are all unofficial.

However, it won't take long for Toyota to reveal all the juicy secrets of the 2025 model year 4Runner, and we have a feeling that in order to avoid a direct confrontation with the 2024 Land Cruiser and its 326-hp i-Force Max hybrid powertrain, this SUV will come at a lower price point and with N400 Tacoma gas powertrain options, perhaps even with the latter's six-speed manual transmission for purists to rejoice. What do you think?
