Only two minivans on sale in the United States can be optioned with all-wheel drive: the Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota Sienna. Because the Pacifica dominates the segment in terms of sales, Toyota decided to spruce up its long-running minivan with more stuff, including an XSE-exclusive package.
Slotted above the XLE and below the Woodland Edition, the XSE comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, front and rear parking sensors, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, a 9.0-inch touchscreen, Premium Audio with Dynamic Navigation, Amazon Alexa, four-zone automatic climate control, SofTex seats, dual power sliding doors, and captain's chairs. How does the XSE Premium Package improve on the aforementioned?

For starters, leather seats with memory and eight-way power adjustments for the driver. Orange stitching is also featured, as are heated and ventilated front seats, a tilt-telescoping steering column with memory, a 7.0-inch display in the instrument cluster as opposed to the standard 4.2-inch display, and puddle lamps.

The good stuff doesn't end here, though. Customers who specify the XSE Premium Package are further presented with heated side mirrors that tilt when placing the shift lever into reverse. When optioned with all-wheel drive, the XSE levels up to a darker finish for its alloy wheels. The finish is shared with the Woodland Edition. Lower down the spectrum, the entry-level LE and better-equipped XLE flaunt dark chrome-accented headlights for model year 2024.

Exclusively hybrid, the Sienna is available in a grand total of 12 exterior paint colors. To arrive in dealer showrooms no later than October 2023, the 2024 model carries a suggested retail price of $37,185.

That's a few bucks more than in 2023, though. As per the build & price tool, the outgoing model is going for $36,885 (excluding the destination freight charge). Pricing for the XLE and higher trim levels isn't currently known, but chances are that Toyota has increased the MSRPs of all available trim levels.

At the present moment, the lineup also comprises the 25th Anniversary Edition (remember the Sienna came out in 1997 as a 1998 model), Limited, and Platinum. The latter is the single most expensive grade of the bunch, carrying an MSRP of $52,345.

In production since 2020 for MY21, the fourth-generation Sienna is referred to as XL40. Based on the TNGA-K platform of the Camry sedan, the three-row people carrier is manufactured in Princeton, Indiana with 2.5-liter I4 muscle. As expected from a hybrid-assisted Toyota, the only transmission available is an eCVT, which is far superior to a conventional CVT (think belt, chain, and toroidal).

The front-wheel-drive specification is rated at 245 horsepower (total system output). The all-wheel-drive option also makes 245 horsepower at full chatter, which is plenty enough for this kind of vehicle and this kind of weight. The Sienna FWD is EPA-rated at 36 mpg (circa 6.5 l/100 km) as opposed to 35 mpg (6.7 l/100 km) for the Sienna AWD.
