2024 is likely the final year of the current-generation RAV4, the fourth since Toyota rolled out its ever-popular compact utility vehicle in 1994. As expected of a farewell, the RAV4 gets little in the way of changes over the previous year, including a few price hikes: $200 for the LE FWD base trim level with the standard 2.5-liter engine, and $250 for the hybrid.
Pricing for the plug-in hybrid, which is known as Prime in the United States, isn't available. If you can't do without all-wheel drive, Toyota is much obliged to charge $1,400 extra in the LE's case. As for the hybrid, this version comes with e-AWD by default.
At the other end of the spectrum, the most expensive specifications available for 2024 are the Limited AWD at $38,180 and $39,780 for the Limited e-AWD. The Japanese carmaker sweetens the deal with a handful of adventure-oriented trims, namely the Adventure AWD ($34,670), TRD Off-Road AWD ($38,095), and Woodland e-AWD ($34,695). All of these prices exclude the $1,350 destination charge.
In addition to said prices, what else has changed? For starters, the hybrid-only RAV4 Woodland now comes with a 1¼-inch activity mount whether you'll use it or not. Said mount accommodates a tray-style bike rack or a cargo carrier. High-profile black roof rails and cross bars also need to be mentioned, along with a 120-volt inverter and a new two-tone paint combo.
Army Green is what it's called. It joins Ice Cap (white), Cavalry Blue, and Midnight Black, all four paired with a Midnight Black-painted roof. The Woodland further boasts Falken Wildpeak all-terrain rubber mounted on TRD flow-formed bronze alloy wheels.
Also new for 2024, the Woodland is available with a so-called Weather Package that brings forth rain-sensing variable intermittent wipers with de-icer function, heated front seats, and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. Electronic on demand all-wheel drive with Trail Mode needs to be mentioned as well. The hybrid-exclusive Trail Mode manages traction off the beaten path. Trail Mode activates Auto LSD by default, a system that uses the anti-lock braking system to mimic an actual limited-slip diff.
All trim levels and powertrain choices have been treated to Toyota's latest version of Toyota Audio Multimedia, an infotainment system designed and engineered by Texas-based Toyota Connected North America. Over-the-air updates, voice activation controls, dual phone connectivity via Bluetooth, cordless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Cloud Navigation are only a few of the highlights.
Last but certainly not least, the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite has got you covered with the likes of Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Road Sign Assist, as well as automatic high beams. On top of those, optional extras include Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Front/Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.
