Can you name a more critical automobile introduction that occurred during the last month of summer before the Monterey Car Week took over and shared many goodies through its many events?
Of course, there's only one superstar – Toyota's 2024 Land Cruiser. Not to be confused with the J300 Land Cruiser, first seen officially a couple of years ago in the Middle East and at home in Japan, this light-duty version started its iconic journey with the J70 variant in 1990.

Now, more than three decades later, the J250-based model underpinned from now on by the TNGA-F body-on-frame platform (alongside Sequoia, Tundra, Tacoma, Lexus GX and LX, plus the J300 Land Cruiser) is making all its ancestors proud – from both the light duty and regular series, given its two front stylings.

It was released worldwide at the same time as at home in Toyota City, Japan – but every region has unique characteristics. North America (along with China), for example, will receive the 326-hp electrified 2.4-liter turbo inline-four i-Force Max powertrain from the newly introduced N400 Tacoma. At home in Japan, meanwhile, it has a regular 2.7-liter with just 161 hp or a 2.8-liter turbo diesel packing 201 hp in combination with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the Land Cruiser 250 moniker.

There's just the turbo diesel mill and the Land Cruiser Prado nameplate in Australia and parts of Europe. Plus, the front fascia has a chameleonic appearance – switching from classic round LED headlights to a squared front fascia at the flip of the trim, so no wonder that everyone now thinks this off-road-focused family SUV is like a blank canvas ready to make it your own as soon as deliveries start during the spring of 2024. Or, at least, that's the impression given by the imaginative realm of digital car content creators.

Some pixel masters were keen on returning the 2024 Land Cruiser to its roots – either making it a three-door convertible SUV with soft and hardtop options or a commercial-grade two- or four-door pickup truck that could make both the Hilux and Tacoma models obsolete.

However, others are intent on extrapolating two different, opposite atmospheres – the ethos of a true mall crawler or the hero tale of an extreme overlanding adventurer. First, Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks that now is the right CGI time to fuel our 'streetable' 2024 Land Cruiser dreams with an aftermarket custom-style digital project.

Based on an unsuspecting 2024 Land Cruiser dressed in blue, the CGI expert shamelessly equipped the off-road-focused SUV with the kind of aftermarket wheels that make it adept at exploring car shows and related events rather than the nation's trails and other types of wilderness. Oh, and there are four options of aftermarket wheels to choose from!

Secondly, Hamid Davoodi, the virtual artist behind the hdm.design account on social media, has granted us his wish of seeing the 2024 Land Cruiser survive everything and anything, with a CGI reworked front bumper featuring recovery hooks and a winch, massively expanded fender flares that would make even the Bronco Raptor black-plastic-green with envy, plus a sizeable lift to showcase the underbody protection, beefy side sills, and – of course – the beadlock-capable off-road wheels shod in meaty all-terrain tires. So, which one is your favorite?
