Toyota has just released the specs of the updated 2024 GR Supra lineup. It's a comprehensive list of small yet meaningful upgrades. A very special version also pays tribute to the MkIV Supra. Here's what you need to know.
Toyota's iconic Supra gets a 45th Anniversary Edition model powered by BMW's B58 turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. Color options are limited to Mikan Blas (orange) and Absolute Zero (white). The special sports car boasts a standard gloss black manually-adjustable rear spoiler and runs on 19-inch matte black wheels. There's also a side decal that helps accentuate its status.

The GT4-inspired limited-edition was a success, and the brand wants to continue making bank on such high-margin units.

The 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition can be ordered with a manual or automatic transmission and, as expected, remains the rear-wheel-drive toy enthusiasts and purists have agreed to like. Depending on the preferred gearbox, the Supra can run from a standstill to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds or 4.2 seconds. When going for the engine with two fewer cylinders, the sprint time to 60 mph increases to 5 seconds.

Only 900 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition will be manufactured.

The Japanese manufacturer, with over 49,000 employees in the US, added a new Hazelnut interior color, with Alcantara and leather-trimmed sport seats being standard on the two- and three-liter base-spec models.

Understanding that people want to remain connected more often, all the Supra trims equipped with the optional Safety & Technology pack will have the Supra Connect Extended Services. Still, it will rely on a 4G LTE cellular connection.

The suspension system has also been fine-tuned to increase the balance between body roll and ride comfort. On top of having more power and torque, the six-cylinder Supra units will also boast the active rear sport differential as a standard feature.

Pricing for the 2024 model year range starts from $45,540 for the Supra with a 2.0-liter engine under the hood paired with the automatic transmission. Adding two cylinders to the powerplant, 127 hp, and around 200 lb of extra weight costs nearly $10,000 more. But with the BMW-sourced engine, the manual gearbox becomes available. Both the manual and automatic B58-powered Supra have the same $54,500 MSRP.

The manual gearbox drops the acoustic package and includes a new large-diameter clutch with a reinforced diaphragm spring that enables a larger friction area that easily accommodates the torque. That translates into increased reliability long-term. Manual models are also set up specifically for the six-speed gearbox. The goal of the two-seater is to provide a simple yet exhilarating behind-the-wheel experience.

Moreover, an Anti-Roll Program is found on both the manual and automatic versions of the 2024 GR Supra. It's used to counter the possibility of “snap-off” oversteering, which happens when the driver takes their foot off the gas pedal mid-corner.

Moving upward to the Premium trim will set customers back an extra $3,150. The priciest 2024 model-year Supra is the special 45th Anniversary Edition with a starting cost of $64,375 sans freight. But it includes everything in the 3.0 Premium trim while adding black brake calipers, GR strut tower braces, and black leather-trimmed seats. Even adaptive cruise control or safety systems like the Rear Cross Traffic Alert that other manufacturers put on a subscription plan.

Happily, drivers can still select from Normal, Sport, and Individual modes that adjust throttle response, suspension damping, and power steering settings.

All models come with two years or 25,000 miles of free factory-scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance with no mileage limit for two years.

The slightly refreshed Supra arrives at dealers this fall. And, yes, the Hairpin+ function will be enabled on all the models. It allows for a little more wheel spin when spirited driving finds the driver on a road with a slight uphill gradient.

Finally, Toyota will give all 2024 GR Supra buyers a complimentary 1-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association (NASA).
