The Hyundai Ioniq 6 family has just stepped into the 2024 model year Down Under and features a new entry-level version with a less punchy electric motor and a smaller battery pack.
Hyundai’s new Ioniq 6 base grade uses a 111 kW (151 ps/149 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque electric motor that drives the rear wheels. The 53 kWh battery pack gives it a 429 km (267 miles) range in return for AU$65,500 (equal to $42,069).

The entry-level trim level can also be specified with the 77.4 kWh battery pack that juices up a 168 kW (228 ps/225 hp) electric motor, priced from AU$71,500 (US$45,922). It has a 614 km (382 miles) driving range on 18-inch wheels and 545 km (339 miles) on 20.

The dual-motor setup is reserved for the mid-range Dynamiq and top-of-the-line Epiq grades, priced from AU$82,000 (US$52,665) and AU$85,500 (US$54,914), respectively. This model uses a pair of motors that generate 74 and 165 kW (101-224 ps/99-221 hp) and 255 and 350 Nm (188-258 lb-ft) of torque, respectively. The Epiq grade comes with 20-inch wheels and has a 519 km (322 miles) range.

Besides introducing the new entry-level variant, Hyundai has also given the 2024 Ioniq 6 a new battery conditioning system that can heat it up for improved performance and better charging times. The heat pump is offered at no extra cost, and the digital side mirrors that were previously standard on the Epiq are now a AU$3,000 (US$1,927) option. Speaking of extras, customers will have to pay AU$1,000 ($642) for the matte paint finish on the Dynamiq and Epiq grades.

The entry-level Hyundai Ioniq comes with an electrically adjustable driver's seat, ambient lighting, smart key, remote functions, 12.3-inch dual displays, smartphone integration, dual-zone climate control, LED headlamps and taillights, and a generous amount of safety gear.

The Dynamiq adds a Bose audio, a head-up display, alloy pedals, interactive pixel lighting on the steering wheel, privacy rear windows, heated front seats, and eco-processed leather upholstery. The Epiq brings heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and a glass sunroof.

In the United States, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is offered in four grades, kicking off with the SE Standard Range from $41,600. The SE and SEL can be yours from $45,500 and $47,700, and the Limited has an MSRP of $52,600. It has an estimated autonomy of 240 miles (386 km) in the base flavor, 361 miles (591 km) in the SE, and 305 miles (491 km) in the SEL and Limited.

The battery-electric fastback sedan debuted over a year ago. It uses the same platform as the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Kia EV6, and Genesis EV60 and is made in South Korea for global markets.
