Remember Game of Thrones, that excellent adult medieval fantasy with cabal and betrayal, depravity and heroism, plus dragons, and a special kind of zombie dubbed 'white walkers?'
Inspired by the series of epic fantasy novels A Song of Ice and Fire, written by that pesky guy George Raymond Richard Martin, the HBO series became an Emmy Award-winning TV show that left a sore taste in everyone's mouth when they unwrapped six seasons worth of plot build within the last few episodes. Yes, the show was known for unexpected twists and turns – but that thing where Jon Snow had to murder his aunt (also his latest love interest) because she had gone rogue was pretty darn stupid and a prime example of lazy writing if you ask me.

I got so disgusted by the fact that they dispatched the white walkers so easily (I didn't mind Arya killing the Whit King, though – it's a reinterpretation of David versus Goliath) that I even stopped waiting for George R.R. Martin to publish his sixth novel, The Winds of Winter, after reading the first five in a binge-worthy manner. Anyway, why am I ranting about all that? Well, simply put, when I saw this meeting of a 2024 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and a 2024 Ford Mustang GT, they immediately reminded me of those pesky 'white walkers.'

After all, they are veritable monsters in their respective category, and they're also entirely on par with each other. So it's anyone's guess who would win a couple of quarter-mile dragstrip skirmishes. The Caddy CT4-V Blackwing is the highest performance expression for the CT4 compact executive sedan, fitted with a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. It packs a punch – 472 hp and 445 lb-ft (603 Nm) and sends all the grunt to the wheels via a six-speed manual or ten-speed auto box for a 60-mph sprint of 3.9 seconds and a quarter-mile ET of 12.14s at 117 mph (188 kph).

Meanwhile, the 2024 Ford Mustang GT is the last of its V8 kind because the Dodge Challenger with Hemi V8 and the entire Chevy Camaro series are going into retirement. And it makes the Coyote V8 fans proud with the 5.0-liter rocking 480 or 486 hp with the Active Valve Performance Exhaust. And we have seen bone-stock GTs dip in the low 12s range, so that makes the brawl quite interesting to watch.

And it's all courtesy of the good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube, who are always prepared for every test & tune event at Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey. So, let's get on with the action. During the first skirmish, the Caddy driver seemed quite confident – there was no burnout while the white Mustang GT had a trail of white smoke like a proud bride at her wedding.

Well, he must have known something as the roaring V6-powered luxury machine's driver had a better reaction time and took an early lead in the first race. Ultimately, the difference wasn't that great because the V8 monster nailed an excellent pass – Caddy's laurels were closely fought at 12.04 versus 12.26s. With the tires warm and after switching lanes, the second attempt was much better for the 'base' Blacking, nailing an 11.7s pass against its opponent's 12.22s result! That's more like a whooping, right?
