One of this week's highlights from the automotive industry, the 2024 BMW X2 subcompact luxury crossover SUV, will most likely stand out in any crowd when it goes on sale in early 2024 across North America.
BMW has us accustomed to a lot of controversial design ideas as of late and, for sure, the 2024 X2 coupe-SUV is not making an exception from the norm. For starters, obviously, we are dealing with a completely different package compared to the original X2, which begs the question: where are we headed in terms of BMW car design?

For example, these two generations don't have anything in common with each other – the X2's grille is larger and doesn't feature a clearly defined left and side kidney. The headlights and vents are also entirely different, and that's just at the front. Meanwhile, the profile adopts the 'classic' X4 and X6 proportions of a fastback coupe SUV, and the rear is probably more divisive than any other POV.

Frankly, the only thing you can't comment about is the interior, which is a lot cleaner and feels like a visible upgrade over the granny-like cockpit of the previous generation. Oh, wait, I did find something bad to comment on – what's with that unsightly dual vent in front of the passenger's seat?! Anyway, since it's such a stark departure from the original, the new 2024 X2 might find traction with many more new customers to the BMW brand – if they're not scared of the continuously rising prices, that is.

The hype surrounding this new and potentially controversial BMW launch hasn't been left unnoticed by the imaginative realm of digital car content creators. Thus, a couple of pixel masters were quick to render the 2024 BMW X2 with an aftermarket touch or two in a bid to make it a little more enticing than OEM standards – or potentially even likable or at least so over the top that it's going to get approval simply for its efforts, not necessarily the result.

First in no particular order is Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, who thinks now is the right CGI time to fuel our aftermarket dreams with the 2024 BMW X2 adopting five new colors, including a lovely purple shade that would make Mopar fans blush with joy and pride, tinted windows, 22-inch M GmbH Competition Sport alloy wheels, plus a lower suspension setup.

Of course, the 'test' subject was the X2 M35i crossover that indeed looks like it went to the gym (or ate a lot of supplements during development), packing the turbo 2.0-liter four-pot with 312 ponies, four more than the dual-motor iX2 version! That's a subtle slap in the face of EVs from the Bavarians, don't you think? It's pretty clear they flow with the trends, but they don't necessarily like them…

Secondly, there's also Ildar, the virtual artist better known as ildar_project on social media, who usually plays with tuned vehicles (he recently imagined a Barbie's pink BMW M4 Convertible!) – so no one is really surprised that he cooked a nice little body kit for the X2 that also includes a new body shade plus a triple central exhaust system! So, please vote; which of these virtually-tuned 2024 BMW X2s is your favorite?
