Back in 2023 German bike maker BMW Motorrad celebrated the 100th anniversary of its existence on this planet. As all other companies of its size do on such occasions, the celebratory moves manifested themselves as both new model releases and events held across the world for the benefit of the fanbase.
Over in the U.S. the BMW Motorrad birthday party was held at the Barber Vintage Festival, the mammoth gathering dedicated to motorcycle enthusiasts. Held on the premises of the Barber Motorsports Parkway in Birmingham, Alabama, the event was attended last year by no less than 80,000 people – a record crowd.

In front of all these Americans the German bike maker held its first-ever BMW Motorrad Days Americas, a gathering of (and for) the most diehard BMW fans from all over the States. And it seems the company's higher-ups liked what they saw, as they just approved the brand to return for the second time to The Heart of Dixie – a clear sign this might actually turn into a yearly event.

For 2024, BMW promises the same thrills as before, enhanced by a few extras. First up, there will be the Fan Zone, where people with a soft spot for the German two-wheelers will get to delight themselves with new and vintage motorcycles. From this area visitors will also get "a great view of vintage racing on the Barber circuit."

Then, the BMW presence at the Barber Vintage Festival will also include partner displays, a kid zone, live music and a biergarten, which is a fancy way to say a place where you can drink beer. The soundtrack will be provided by the rockabilly group Hot Rod Walt, who will be playing on each of the three days of the event.

For true motorcycle riders BMW will set up a Proving Ground where people will be able to take rides on the backs of the most recent Motorrad machines, including the R 1300 GS, F 900 GS, and R 12. Why, even the new and wacky CE 02 with its electric powertrain and all will be on deck.

Important to note, though, that riding a Bimmer comes with some strings attached. A valid motorcycle license is mandatory, as are a DOT-approved helmet, eye protection, long sleeve shirt, long pants, and closed-toe over-heel shoes for the rider's protection. Those applying need to be over 18 years of age and must not use alcohol prior to getting ready for the ride.

The 2024 Barber Vintage Festival will be held this year on the weekend of October 11. Tickets for the event will be available for purchase starting May 21, but pricing for them was not announced. Whatever they'll be, BMW Motorrad says it will offer discounted event passes for those interested – details on those are also unknown at the time of writing.
