It's January 24, the day when we will be getting our first glimpse at the new motorcycles Harley-Davidson is preparing for the new year. While we wait for what we expect (and hope) to be huge reveals, other major bike makers are having a field day.
We talked earlier about the returning bikes in the Honda stables, and although the news itself was exciting for bikers, the motorcycles themselves not so much, because they are not bringing anything truly new to the table.

Not the same can be said about a certain range of bikes BMW Motorrad cooked up for the American market. It's three F GS models I'm talking about, which were presented this week with enough changes to last for a full year.

Targeting the mid-range segments of the industry, the three bikes are the F 800 GS, F 900 GS, and F 900 GS Adventure. Technically variations of the same machine, they share a lot of components but are different enough from their previous incarnations to make them worth at least a closer look, if not a buy.

The rides are built around the same kind of trellis steel frame, and use the same engine, an 895cc parallel-twin the likes of which we've seen before, including in a slighter larger (895cc) and 2-cylinder in-line version on the F 900 R and F 900 XR.

The difference this year is that the engine is significantly more powerful, and it powers bikes that are noticeably lighter than before. It is also controlled by means of a six-speed transmission.

The entry-level 2024 BMW F 800 GS uses the powerplant to crank out 87 hp and 67 lb-ft of torque, a sizeable increase from the 77 hp it previously developed. The bike now comes with a standard luggage carrier for Vario cases, and will be available in three versions: Base Style, Style Sport, and Style Triple Black. This model will sell in the U.S. starting from $10,495.

The 2024 BMW F 900 GS is described as a brand-new motorcycle whose power levels from the same engine stand at 105 hp and 68.6 lb-ft of torque. The increase in power is proportional to the previous model, growing from 95 hp.

The F 900 GS is also a lot lighter than before, as 30 pounds (almost 14 kg) have been shaved off of it. It also features new fully adjustable upside-down forks, a new plastic fuel tank, and a completely redesigned rear section. An Akrapovic sport muffler is offered as standard.

The model will be available in three trim levels, namely Base, Style Passion, and Style GS Trophy. The starting price was set at $13,495.

Last but not least comes the touring bike 2024 BMW F 900 GS Adventure. It shares most of the hardware with the F 900 GS, down to the engine and power levels, but adds a standard luggage rack. This one has only two trim levels, Base Style and Style Ride Pro, and will sell from $14,195.

BMW does not say when the three bikes will be available for purchase, but we expect them to be on dealers' lots shortly.
