It wasn't that long ago when we learned German bike maker BMW Motorrad was planning to launch a new interpretation of some of its most important bikes in the touring enduro segment, the F GS range. And this week it did, providing us with all the details we need on the F 800 GS, F 900 GS, and F 900 GS Adventure.
The updates made to the three models are both common across the lineup, as they target the engine, frame, and other components they share, and specific, as they try to upgrade some of the aspects of each bike BMW knew were in need of such measures.

We'll start, of course, with the common elements, and tell you all three bikes have been built around a a bridge-type frame made from deep-drawn sheet steel parts welded together. Inside, a significantly updated 2-cylinder in-line engine sits.

The unit is the one BMW launched back in 2018 on the F 850 GS, only it now comes with an increased capacity. Instead of the 853cc used until now, the engine is in these three new bikes 895cc in displacement.

This led to an increase in power across the board by ten horsepower. What that means is that the F 800 GS now develops 87 hp, while the F 900 GS and its Adventure variant 105 horsepower. Separately, a 48 hp version of the F 800 GS is available for holders of driving license class A2.

The entry-level in the BMW Motorrad F series bikes is the F 800 GS. In this new incarnation freshly announced by the Germans, the bike brings as novelties to the table things like LED headlights and a new, 6.5-inch TFT display to replace the analog instrumentation used until now.

The bike is offered in three variants, namely Basic, Sport, and Triple Black, each with its own color: Lightwhite, Racing Blue, and Blackstorm metallic, respectively.

Perhaps the biggest changes in the entire range comes for the F 900 GS. Not only did the bike receive a new and more powerful engine to keep it going, but it is also now significantly lighter than it was.

The German bike maker went for a lighter plastic fuel tank up on the frame, a modified the rear section, and fitted a lighter Akrapovic silencer, three changes that together conspire to bring the bike's weight down by an impressive 14 kg (31 pounds).

The modifications didn't stop there though. The adventure motorcycle is now equipped with a fully adjustable upside-down telescopic forks supplied by Showa, and a new headlight.

An optional package called Enduro Pro is thrown into the mix for this bike, and this offers riders an increase in off-road enjoyment thanks to hardware like titanium nitride-coated upside-down telescopic forks, fully adjustable central spring strut, handlebar risers, and an M Endurance chain.

The new model year BMW F 900 GS is available in three versions, namely Basic in Blackstorm metallic, Passion in Sao Paulo yellow, and GS Trophy in Lightwhite solid paint/Racing Blue metallic.

BMW F 900 GS Adventure

Last but not least comes the F 900 GS Adventure, which shares many of the changes with the regular 900 GS, but tops them off with Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) electronic suspension. The Enduro Pro package is available for this bike as well. The two-wheeler is offered in only two variants: Basic (Blackstorm metallic) and Ride Pro (White Aluminium).

Despite spilling all the details on the three new adventure bikes, the German carmaker did not say when they'll reach dealers, and we also have no information on pricing.
