Mercedes-AMG is getting ready to unveil a new version of the S-Class, which will reportedly be called S63e. It is a product signed by the Mercedes-AMG marque, and it will come in a plug-in hybrid form.
Rumors point to a twin-turbo V8 under the hood, but there is also an electric motor in the mix, which is powered by a dedicated battery. The latter can be charged from a Type 2 plug, connected to the charging port which is present on the left-hand side of the vehicle. You can observe in the photo gallery that the prototype has fuel filler caps on both sides, which reveals its PHEV configuration.
Regarding figures, the Mercedes-AMG S63e is reportedly good for 700 horsepower, although that remains to be seen when it is officially unveiled. Expect that to happen sometime next year, as this will be an MY2023 vehicle.
Once it reached the AMG workshop, the W223 generation of the S-Class received a Panamericana-style front grille, larger wheels from the same division, a lower ride height, and four rectangular exhausts.
From a styling perspective, the vehicle has a redesigned front bumper, with larger air intakes, as well as a more aggressive rear bumper, complete with a diffuser and room for the four exhausts. Naturally, all these changes include a specific stance, and the go-fast S-Class should be the quickest S63 so far, with all the tech it has onboard and its horsepower figure.
The Mercedes-AMG version of the S-Class is expected to get the company's rear-wheel steering system. The latter should bring a boost in agility, which is a big request from a vehicle that is that long and that wide. Who knows, maybe with rear-wheel steering, a stiffer suspension, and bigger wheels, the S Class would not fail the moose test.
You do not have to be a Mercedes-Benz fan to know that the S-Class comes with a smart active suspension, which will be tweaked by the team at Mercedes-AMG for this version of the German limousine.
