Only available for the Unlimited and exclusively offered with the eight-speed automatic, the Wrangler 3.0D costs $6,000 over the starting price of the Pentastar V6 with the six-speed manual. That’s $4,000 for the engine and $2,000 for the transmission, representing a $3,250 premium over the gasoline-auto combo.
In the main photo, you can see the build sheet for a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon equipped with the EcoDiesel V6, TorqueFlite 8HP75, and a few more options at a total price of $59,490 including $1,495 for the destination charge. In terms of pricing range for the extras on the build sheet, the turbocharged diesel is followed by the body-color hardtop at $2,195 while the engine block heater is the most affordable at $95.

JL Wranlger Forums member “kre62” mentions the EcoDiesel V6 Wrangler is now available in the ordering system, but the U.S. configurator hasn’t been updated with this engine. Another forum member confessed that he just ordered his first Jeep, a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 3.0D at approximately $56,000. “Eesasdon” also revealed that Toledo is supposed to start production “at the end of November 2019.”

3.73 or 4.10 axle ratios, Dana 44 axles front and rear, 18 gallons for the fuel tank, 260 horsepower, 442 pound-feet of torque, and start/stop are also featured. No numbers have been yet announced for towing capacity while the EPA fuel economy figures haven’t been finalized either. But nevertheless, this fellow is sure to be the most efficient Wrangler Unlimited ever sold in the United States of America.

Identifying an EcoDiesel V6 on the street isn’t going to be easy unless you can hear the engine cluttering next to you. When the vehicle is parked, the best way of telling is by looking for the 3.0D badge on the lower left-hand side of the tailgate. In the case of the Ram 1500 light-duty pickup truck, the powerplant is much obliged to return 32 miles to the gallon with rear-wheel drive or 29 miles per gallon when equipped with four-wheel drive.

Is the Wrangler Unlimited with this engine capable of achieving 30 mpg? Sure looks like it!
