Now that the Falcon is no longer available in Australia, the Mustang will have to make do. Better but more expensive as well for the 2020 model year, the S550 with right-hand drive can be spruced up with the Black Shadow Pack for the not-so-princely sum of 1,000 dollars.
So what do you get for your hard-earned money? First of all, you’ll need to order a Mustang GT Fastback with the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 and whatever transmission you fancy. The package levels up the visual drama with a black roof, hood, and stripes on the sides, black badging for the pony, black 19-inch wheels with a unique design, and a black rear spoiler.

“The Black Shadow Pack takes the Mustang GT Fastback to another level”, said Carl Widmann, chief program engineer. “It gives the classic Mustang lines a sinister flavor that really adds a raciness and competition look to it, and harks back to some of the graphic and decal packages that we’ve had in the past.”

Those classic Mustang lines Carl is talking about are long gone, but nevertheless, the S550 is a retro-infused design. For old times’ sake, Grabber Lime is also available for the 2020 model year along with Red Hot, Twister Orange, and Iconic Silver paintwork.

On the other side of the spectrum, the sixth-generation Mustang features an all-digital and customizable digital instrument cluster, Wi-Fi hotspot, a rev-matching manual transmission, and many more. The Recaro front seats tick all the right boxes, and so does the Ford Service Benefits program which includes service work for the first four years of the vehicle or 60,000 kilometers.

A five-year warranty with unlimited mileage is also certain to attract customers, and speaking of which, the Mustang is the best-selling sports car in Australia for 30 consecutive months and coming. As if that wasn’t enough, the Mustang is the best-selling sports car in the world.

On that note, the Shelby GT500 is also preparing to prowl Australian streets in 2020. The fastest Mustang ever built for the road will be imported by Mustang Motorsport of Victoria, and the price the mod shop has announced ranges between 300,000 and 450,000 dollars. Those who want supercar performance at a more affordable price point can wait until 2020 for the right-hand-drive C8 Corvette to arrive in the Oz.
