Are car aficionados better off in 2019 than they were back in 1969? Well, with aspects such as emission and crash safety regulations now making the world a better place for everybody, there's less room for us fetishists than it used to be. For instance, Dodge released the 2020 Charger Hellcat Widebody yesterday and while the throwback is delicious, that massive wing is no longer here, obvious due to safety reasons.
Of course, many gear heads at least wanted to know how the old shcool aero element (you can check this out in the official image gallery above) would look when adorning the new-age Charger.
Fortunately, the Internet wouldn't leave such a question without an answer, which is why we are now looking at a rendering that has come to sort things out.
The pixel play we have here fits the 2020 Charger Daytona with the kind of rear wing that would feel right at home on a banked oval.
And that wing isn't the only addition, with the four-door muscle car having also gained a front splitter. Truth be told, this would affect the drivability of the super-sedan, but this is another story for another time.
The Hellcat is portrayed on custom rims, with these coming from American Racing Wheels (the die-hard customization fans among you probably recognized these at first glance).
Keep in mind that, with 717 ponies on tap, this toy is the most powerful production sedan in the world. And in an era when the said genre enjoys more traction than ever, this is no small feat.
As it was the case with the 69 original, the Mopar people will only bring 501 examples of the 2020 Charger Hellcat Daytona to the world. Then again, the limited availability has never stopped owners from going down the aftermarket route (here's a 1 out of 999 Audi R8 RWS with a twin-turbo kit), so perhaps we'll see this big, retro wing project coming to life.
