With the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray now keeping supercar spotters around the country busy, the time has come to think of what lies ahead.
Chevy has introduced the C8 'Vette in Stingray form, which should be a clue towards the fact the automotive producer will maintain the nomenclature used for the C7. So, at least for now, we can assume that we'll once again be gifted with spiced-up derivatives such as the Gran Sport, the Z06 and, of course, the ZR1.

And, to help pass the time until these go-faster versions of the mid-engined Corvette show up, I've brought along a rendering that portrays the C8 Corvette Z06 - pixel tip to Carlifestyle for this image.

The obvious bonus here comes in the form of a widebody, whose sculpted form can keep one starting at the screen for quite a while. In fact, you can check out the social media post at the bottom of the page to zoom in on the little details.

The new Corvette Stingray, with its sub-$60,000 starting price, allows one to enjoy 495 hp when fitted with the optional Z51 Performance Package, with this resulting in a sub-3s 0-60 mph time. This comes thanks to the new 6.2-liter LT2 V8.

Well, I'll remind you that the rumor mill used to talk about the C8 Chevrolet Corvette would also be gifted with a twin-turbo V8, an engine that would be linked to the similar architecture that's already in use over at Cadillac.

Forum chat also mentioned this TT V8 being matted to one or more electric motors, with the resulting 1,000+ hp hybrid possibly set to become a range-topper.

And while a thousand ponies sounds like too much for the Z06 badge, the said twin-turbo V8 alone could perfectly fit the bill - will purists be upset if the motor actually ends up using turbos instead of a supercharger? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
