Just one day has passed since the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS made its spyshot debut and the time has now come to bring the full-size SUV under the spotlights once again, with a test car having been spotted in German traffic.
Since the prototypes are currently in the early testing phase, the camouflage is only a part of the elements that conceal the styling of the crossover. For instance, the taillights seen here are provisional.

Expect the final design to pack plenty of uber-stylish details that will be aimed at concealing the size of the vehicle.

The MHA platform serving the newcomer will allow the 2019 GLS to be put on a serious diet, one that will allow it to rival the BMW X7 in the handling department - here are the latest spyshots of the seven-seater Bimmer.

The architecture will allow for a wide range of powerplants to be installed, with these expected to range from turbo-fours to V8s (hybridization is also coming). As for the Mercedes-AMG incarnation of the GLS, the 5.5-liter V8 of the current 63 will be replaced by Affalterbach's 4.0-liter V8.

At the top of the range, the three-row model could get one or even two Mercedes-Maybach versions. The rumor mill talks about the GLS staying true to its "S-Class of the SUVs" nameplate by mirroring the Maybach aura of the carmaker's flagship sedan.

If the Germans decide to go all the way, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS will be offered in two versions, namely the V8-animated 560 and the V12-gifted 650.

The latter would allow the GLS to fully rival the Bentley Bentayga, while we must keep in mind that the Range Rover SVAutobiography LWB is also a competitor for the Merc.

Until we get our hands on more details of Mercedes-Benz's flagship SUV, you can zoom in on the prototype in the clip below.
