For the 16th edition of the Guangzhou Auto Show, Audi chose to reveal the A6L for the Chinese market. Manufactured in the Middle Kingdom for customers who care about legroom as much as they do about being chauffeured, the long-wheelbase sedan will be offered with a 2.0-liter engine at launch.
Even though a six-cylinder option would have been better suited to the weight and character of the A6L, the four-cylinder turbo is much obliged to develop 190 or 224 horsepower. Sometime in the future, the V6 TFSI and an eco-friendly powertrain such as the 40 e-tron from the previous generation should be added to the range.

Instead of 2,924 millimeters, the wheelbase of the A6L spans over 3,024 millimeters. It might not seem too much, but the difference is obvious once you take a look at the size of the rear doors. Audi has no plans of importing the A6 from Germany into China. In other words, the A6L will go solo against the long-wheelbase versions of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Over in its domestic market, the A6 is currently available with a choice of three turbo diesel options, starting with the 40 TDI and topping with the 50 TDI. In the United States, on the other hand, the 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque will have to make to at $58,900.

As the fifth generation of the A6, the C8 is the most technological of them all, coming as standard with mild hybridization regardless of engine option. Sometime next year, production will also be extended to Aurangabad in India, which is operated by Skoda Auto India Pvt Ltd.

The design of the A6 might be business as usual for Audi, but the German automaker makes a case for “the most modern operating concept in its class” thanks to the end-to-end digitalization of the cockpit.MMI satellite navigation, progressive steering, voice control, pre sense basic, and two-zone automatic climate control come standard.
