For the 2018 Guangzhou Auto Show, Chevrolet prepared a wide and varied selection of concepts and production cars. The FNR-CarryAll is the highlight, taking the guise of the Blazer from North America but with seating for six people.
The third concept from the FNR lineage takes its name from the Suburban Carryall of 1935. According to Chevrolet, this one-off embodies the development trend of future sport utility vehicles, “including their powerful capability, all-around comfort and, advanced connectivity technology.” 5,000 millimeters long and sporting a 2,867-millimeter wheelbase, the concept features carbon-ceramic brake rotors and a carbon-fiber roof.

The Monza RS is an interesting design too, with Chevrolet reviving the nameplate after a five-year run between 1975 and 1980. The mid-size sedan features high-gloss detailing, honeycomb mesh for the grille, and two-element taillights, bringing the point home as far as sportiness is concerned. Nevertheless, the Monza RS is a China-exclusive model with front-wheel drive.

Next up is the Malibu XL Redline, sporting 2.0 liters of “intelligent variable-cylinder turbocharged engine” mated to the Hydra-Matic nine-speed automatic transmission. Rated at 177 kW and 350 Nm (241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet), the engine is estimated to drink as low as 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers (35.1 gallons).

Last, but certainly not least, the Corvette C7.R Redline takes inspiration from the Redline-liveried racing car that will compete this weekend at the Six Hours of Shanghai FIA World Endurance Championship race. As opposed to the 6.2-liter small-block V8 in the United States, the Chinese model comes with a 5.5-liter V8 engine rated at 492 horsepower. The Michelin performance tires, six-piston single-fixed calipers, and ultra-high-temperature ceramic-composite pads are all standard.

“In Chevrolet’s second-largest market, we will continue to strengthen our brand’s appeal by introducing products that embody our youthfulness, performance DNA and innovation,”
declared Scott Lawson, general director of Chevrolet at SAIC-GM. “Chevrolet is able to draw from GM’s global resources and long-standing industry experience to introduce the best products for our Chinese customers.”

Since it was launched in the Middle Kingdom in 2005, the golden bowtie sold more than six million vehicles in the second-largest economy on the planet. Sales continue to improve, with Chevrolet reporting a 3.6-percent growth in the first ten months of 2018.
