In what appears to be an internal memo distributed to Renault dealers, the French manufacturer lets it slip that the all-new Megane RS is slated to launch in September 2017. What’s more, 2017 will see Renault go wild with new or improved models such as the Captur facelift, Koleos mid-size sport utility vehicle, as well as the Alaskan mid-size pickup truck.
Coming courtesy of automotive tipster Ferd, the document is written in French, and it reads: “lancements programmes pour l’anne 2017.” That roughly translates to “launches programmed for 2017.” The first model of the lot is the so-called Captur Phase 2, as in the facelift for the Clio-based crossover. The mid-cycle refresh for the Renault Captur is due in May.
Next up, the Nouveau Koleos will arrive in Europe in June. Based on the Talisman sedan, the 2017 Renault Koleos will challenge the likes of the Nissan X-Trail, Mitsubishi Outlander, and the Honda CR-V. In all likelihood, the Euro-spec Koleos will be available with a 2.0 dCi diesel developing 177 PS (175 bhp) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. Of course, customers will be given a choice: FWD or AWD, manual or automatic transmission. Regarding the latter, it's too soon to say if we'll be dealing with a CVT or an EDC dual-clutch cog swapper.
In September, the compact hot hatchback segment will take note of the 2018 Renault Megane RS. The front-wheel-drive model will get four-wheel steering, Brembo performance brakes, and a thumping great turbo. Expected to muster more than 300 horsepower, the all-new Megane RS will challenge the Nurburgring FWD record set by the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S.
Regarding the Alaskan, the leaked document reads “date a definier.” Expected to set foot on European soil no sooner than the month of November 2017, the Alaskan pickup truck is Renault’s take on the Nissan NP300 Navara. The Euro 6-compliant 2.3-liter dCi diesel engine in single-turbo and twin-turbo flavors is expected to offer 160 and 190 PS (158 and 187 bhp), respectively.
These said, it certainly looks as if Renault has a busy schedule in 2017.
