MV Agusta just pulled the wraps off of its new 2018 F4 RC, a World Superbike Championship grade motorcycle that can be used both on track and on the road.
Visually, the bike isn’t that much different from the previous model, but it does come with new colors and graphics that match those of the factory racing team. The number “37” is proudly displayed on the fairings to recall the number of manufacturer titles won by the Italian bike maker so far.

The heart of the new MV Agusta F4 RC is the four-cylinder engine borrowed from the full-racing-grade F4 Reparto Corse with central distribution chain and radial valves that is tuned to put out a maximum of 205 horsepower.

All this oomph is kept in check by an optimized electronic platform that can also be customized. Parameters like throttle sensitivity, maximum torque, engine braking, and rev limiter can all be set according to rider’s needs and riding style. Standard kit also contains a lean angle sensor, three gyroscopes, and three accelerometers.

The specially developed CrMo steel tube trellis frame features a NIX 30 type USD Ohlins fork with TiN coating at the front, allowing separate hydraulic compression adjustment and rebound along with pre-load adjustment, while the rear ends in an Ohlins TTX 36 fully adjustable shock with piggyback tank.

Stopping power is provided by 320 mm discs at the front with 4-piston Brembo monoblock calipers at the front, and a 4-piston caliper biting on a 210 mm disc at the rear. A radial braking pump on the handlebar and the Bosch 9 Plus Race Mode ABS are offered as standard.

MV Agusta didn’t say exactly how many 2018 F4 RC units will be made, but it made it clear that a limited number will be hand built with the same care that went into building Leon Camier’s F4 Reparto Corsa race bike.

Want more power and exclusivity? No worries, as MV Agusta is also offering a special kit, housed in an elegant wooden box, that includes a SC-Project full titanium single exit exhaust, a modified ECU, rapid release fuel cap, carbon fiber heat shields, a single seat tail cover, and other lightweight parts.
