The i3 LCI and i3s are out today. Even though they haven't reached showrooms yet, the BMW marketing machine is already cranking away at full speed. Forget about the lack of range these little EVs suffer from; what you need to know is that the i3s is faster than a Dodge Charger.
No, we're not talking about a brand new Hellcat, though that has been bested by EVs too. The ad showcases your father's version, a third-generation coup' built between 1971 and 1974.

You have to wonder what the Dukes of Hazzard would look like if it were shot with a BMW i3. The buys would look a heck of a lot more conspicuous carrying bootleg in their little bubble car. Jumps would be out of the question, and the girls might not have been too interested either. Bo and Luke would probably just start an app development company or a come up with their own organic wheat-based laxative. If you think about it, those are much more lucrative ideas in the long run, but it doesn't make for good television.

We're sorry, BMW, but all you did was make us want to own a Dodge Charger. Sure, the i3 points to the future of the automobile. But without the grease, the oversized body and the noises, there's nothing to make you want to go for a weekend cruise.

What's an i3s? Well, it's the "performance" version of the car. It benefits from 40mm wider tracks and 10mm lower suspension. There's wider rubber on those 20-inch wheels too. Power for the electric motor has been boosted to 184 HP (137 kW) and 199 lb-ft of torque (270 Nm).

Besides the 0 to 60 km/h sprint time of 3.7 seconds, which is mentioned in the video, it's also capable of reaching 98 km/h in 6.8 seconds, so it takes some time for General Lee to catch up, but he will eventually. Just give him time... or an engine swap

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
