The auto industry is still filled with unknowns. The Mercedes' Airscarf is bad; diesel is bad; even Nissans are evil. This is the worst time to invest... unless you have excellent sales and could enter a new market.
Skoda is like that, right? In some markets, the Octavia is more expensive than the equivalent Golf, yet it's also the most popular model made by the Czech automaker.
The new Superb is also doing quite well because it offers lots of space for not that much money, or at least that's what we think. So why not enter the premium market even deeper with a lifestyle choice.
People dig coupes, even the ones that aren't really that. Just ask those who bought the CLA and the GLE. So what would they do with a brand new Skoda Tudor based on Audi's platforms? They would go crazy, that's what.
Car renderer Theophilus Chin decided to remake the Tudor after he was done doing the A5 convertibles and Sportbacks. The Tudor name is a classic one, but Skoda almost, nearly came very close to reviving it in 2002. That's when they made a very lovely pre-production concept.
By lovely, we mean that it looked like a big box with two doors, but that's the Skoda design standard. And why shouldn't the Czechs be allowed to use Audi's platform? Volkswagen just made a Chinese market sedan out of the A6, while SEAT used to re-badge every old A4.
As for the design of this rendering, it's quite good, but Audi's Marc Lichte made a slightly more impressive A5 coupe. The Tudor kind of looks dated, but it could be just that the wheels too old-fashioned. Overall, the angry face leaves the most lasting impression, as does the thought of Skoda once more using V6 engines.
