Ah, the 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang and its R-rated brother! Right after Dodge hit us with the 707 HP output of the Challenger SRT Hellcat, Ford followed suit and started the teasing game with the long-awaited 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang bruiser.
In a previous episode of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson said that the 2016 Shelby GT350 will be a "520 horsepower" machine, a figure that seems feasible IRL. After all, we're talking about the 5.2-liter Voodoo V8, a motor described by the Blue Oval as their most powerful naturally aspirated vee-eight engine.

Following up on Jeremy Clarkson's more or less official output figure, Ford Performance boss Dave Pericak and Jamie Allison of Ford Racing were invited by Autoline to talk about the GT350 Mustang's capability.

In the video interview attached below, we're told by Dave that "we’re probably a couple months away from sharing that information [5.2L Voodoo V8 output]. We are going through the final certification stages and we’re probably 2 to 3 months away from sharing that information with everybody." In addition to this, HP Tuners sent an Mustang6G forum member the PCM calibration files of the 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang.

In the gallery below, you'll find a screenshot that reads RPM Limits. The cutoff RPM and neutral cutoff are both at 8,050 rpm. According to Raj Nair, the GT350 Mustang's flat-plane crankshaft Voodoo V8 spins up to 8,000 rpm before fuel cutoff, yet the engine has another 250 rpm after that for safe headroom.

Last but not least, the peeps from Lethal Performance posted on their Facebook account two photos of the first production-ready GT350 and GT350R after a visit to the Flat Rock Plant. I'm not so sure about the weird-looking wheels of the red-painted 2016 Shelby GT350R Mustang photographed next to what looks like a white Ford Fusion, but still, what a glorious muscle car this 'Stang is! The wait will be worth it.
