There's a wind of change blowing in Scion's lineup, one that started with the introduction of the iA and iM models a couple of months ago.
Being new models and whatnot, the iM hatchback and the iA sedan have the edge when it comes to trim and visual styling both inside and outside, which meant the tC was shadowed by their arrival.

It may be Scion's top-selling model, but the tC coupé needed something to stay fresh, or as Scion's PR voice puts it, the 2016MY will add "new sound, smarts and swishes".

In English, that means the 2016 tC gains a new standard audio system, a upgraded interior features including a Smart Key with push-button start and a standard rear windshield wiper.

The sound system uses a 7-inch Pioneer touchscreen Display Audio system with AM/FM/HD radio, voice recognition, Bluetooth, hands-free and streaming audio. Also, music lovers can use the Aha app to browse through a list of 100,000 Internet radio options.

Subtle visual mods are represented by the new silver interior door handles, a redesigned console tray cover plus a leather-wrapped gear lever knob.

Now, let's talk money. Prices for the 2016 Scion tC remain unchanged, as it follows: you'll have to pay $19,385 for the six-speed manual transmission model, while the one fitted with the six-speed automatic with paddle shifters, and Dynamic Rev Management will remove $20,535 from your bank account.

The 2016 tC will be available in dealerships starting in August, but keep in mind the iA sedan offers a milder alternative in terms of performance for a lower price: $15,700 for the six-speed manual transmission variant and $16,800 for the six-speed automatic choice.
