In continuous production since 2009, the second-gen Chevrolet Equinox is still one of the most popular crossovers in the United States of America. Customers don’t care about the GM Theta (GMT192) platform or the fact that the underpinnings are getting old now because the Equinox is just cool.
Over the years, the golden bowtie manufacturer updated the mid-size crossover SUV, making it better and more user friendly. The 2015 model year, for example, added OnStar 4G LTE and two exterior paint jobs: Blue Velvet and Sea Grass Metallic. But the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox promises more than that.

In a release titled “Chevrolet Equinox has the best January ever”, the General Motors-owned manufacturer claims two things - the highly popular nameplate had its best January ever in terms of sales volume (almost 20,000 units were delivered last month) and “Chevrolet will introduce an updated 2016 Equinox on February 12 at the Chicago Auto Show.”

What you can see above (click for the full image) is a teaser of the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox facelift and the visual changes are obvious: redesigned headlight clusters, updated fog lights that incorporate LED daytime running lights, a more angular-styled front fascia design and a different bumper made from plastic.

If we’re not mistaken, the teased 2016 Chevrolet Equinox seems to be the range-topping LTZ grade. According to previous intel, it is a given that the refreshed Equinox will be the first Chevrolet to debut the OnStar Advanced Vehicle Diagnostics system, a bit of kit that was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show. Last but not least, one more honorable mention: the third generation of the model will debut in 2017.
