Over the 50-year lifespan of the Ford Mustang, this pony car has transformed into countless numbers of variants both by Ford and third-party companies. With the 2015 Ford Mustang hitting the streets later this year, American Muscle has rendered the new car in three of its most iconic guises: Bullitt, Eleanor and Iacocca.
Inspired by the Dark Highland Green 1968 Ford Mustang GT that Steve McQueen drove in the movie Bullitt, Ford has since created two production versions that pay homage to this legendary movie car (in 2001 and in 2008-09). Taking cues from the original car, this rendered 2015 Ford Mustang Bullitt uses the same paint color, a similar wheel design and other key traits of the ’68 Bullitt like the heat extractors in the hood, the blacked-out grilled and the louvered quarter windows.

Another movie icon to be rendered by American Muscle is the modern interpretation of the 1967 Shelby GT500 (also known as Eleanor) used in the 2000 movie Gone in 60 Seconds. The 2015 Ford Mustang Eleanor is instantly recognizable with its dark gray paint and black racing stripes, the large, front-mounted fog lights and the side-outlet exhaust. The rendering adds even more detail like the enlarged side air intakes, the Shelby wheels and the unique rising hood held in place with a set of hood pins.

Lee Iacocca was a driving force behind the creation of the Ford Mustang, and the Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition commemorated this back in 2009. Matching the cues of that 2009 coachbuilt Mustang, the 2015 Ford Mustang Iacocca Concept carries over an aggressive, yet simplistic, look for the Mustang with the same all-silver paint scheme, big chrome wheels and the lens-less headlights.

As much as we can hope for any (or all) of these Mustang concepts to make it to production, the 2015 Ford Mustang is already shaping up to have plenty of variants right out of the box. Aside from the 50th Anniversary Edition and whatever the SVT-tuned Mustang ends up being called, there are also rumors about a Mach 1 revival, not to mention more recent confirmations from aftermarket tuners Saleen and Steeda, which have both promised their own versions of the sixth-generation Mustang.
