With its current offensive, Dodge certainly gathered the attention of the automotive world by bringing out the most powerful and fastest sedan in the world. Yes, we’re talking about the SRT Hellcat Charger, a beast that has no less than 707 HP at its disposal. However, there are other choices in the range as well and, as we found during our review of a 2015 Charger R/T you might not need the flagship to have fun.
Unlike its supercharged brother, the R/T uses a 5.7-liter V8 that’s still naturally aspirated. It makes a healthy 370 HP and 395 lb-ft (536 Nm) of torque, figures that might seem like too little at first but are more than enough for your daily chores.

Other than that, there’s little to set the two models apart. Inside, they look virtually the same and the effort Dodge put into revamping its cabins paid out. Everything is where you’d expect it to be, at hand at all times and made of decent materials. Sure, the plastic could’ve been of a better quality but we’re not going to nitpick in this price range.

Around town, the sedan works beautifully. It’s even better than the Challenger because you get better visibility and don’t have to get in and out of the car when someone wants to ride in the back. On top of that, the EPA numbers are pretty accurate, our test revealing that 16 mpg is more than attainable.

Outside of town, the 5.7-liter V8 can stretch its legs. The windshield and front windows are made of acoustic glass so wind noise will be reduced to a minimum, even at higher speeds. As a matter of fact, you might be fooled into thinking you’re inside a BMW or Mercedes-Benz at times.

So what’s the downside of this car then? Well, we didn’t find anything obviously out of place. With a starting price of $36,295, the R/T Road & Track Charger offers a good deal, possibly the best price/performance/looks ratio.

Sure, there’s the Hellcat at play as well but it’s almost twice as expensive, and we’re not sure it’s worth the extra money. Unless you plan on taking the car to the drag strip or you just have to have the most powerful car on your block, though, it’s hard to see any situation where the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T Road & Track isn’t enough performance for the average buyer looking for a solid daily driver.
