Most European and America buyers will agree that the Korean cars GM sells are not that good, not to mention they deviate from the core Chevy brand. While that's true for the Sonic or the Spark, it's less valid for the Cruze nameplate, which has been a huge global success.
But now, a new generation is coming and it promises to be better than ever, at a glance at least. We've seen the new Cruze sedan on a number of occasions, as the company's test engineers took it out on the Nurburgring. However, these latest spyshots show everything there is to see.

Ahead of what is likely to be a motor show debut at the Beijing Auto Show early next month, this fully revealed Cruze was photographed by auto.sohu.com. The compact sedan is a sharp dresser, with a huge lower grille and lots of chrome trim. The overall look is much closer to the SS than the Impala and Malibu.

Keep in mind that this is probably a locally made pre-production car made by Shanghai GM, not one that's been brought over from America. The interior shows interesting design and a large infotainment screen, but we are kind of disappointed at the sea of fake beige leather covering its dash. There's also too much chrome everywhere for this to be passed onto an American Chevy dealerships. It's a veritable chrome overkill!

According to our Chinese source, the base engine in the Cruze sold there will be quite underpowered, its base engine being a 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit with 115 PS (112 bhp or 83 kW) and 146 Nm (108 lb-ft). There will also be a 1.4-liter turbo similar to the one in the Trax, making 150 PS (148 bhp or 110 kW) and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque.

The same overall look will be accompanied by totally different engines in Europe and America, where Opel's latest tech will likely play a key role. Reports emerging last year suggested the new Cruze was delayed because of engine development, which is why we think the US-sped car will have a new 1.6 SIDI Turbo with 170 hp.

Transmission options for the Chinese model will reportedly include a five-speed base manual, a six-speed manual and even a seven-speed twin-clutch auto.
