The only man on the planet that is currently enjoying his personal 2015 BMW M3 is one great trooper. He’s keeping us informed on every aspect of the new car. His latest post is about a couple of VBOX runs.
In case you didn’t know, a VBOX is a device that uses the GPS signal to measure a variety of data, from all sorts of acceleration and deceleration times to other useful info.

We’re going to focus on acceleration here, as you might’ve expected. The new M3 was able to do 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds, 0.1 seconds slower than what the manufacturer is claiming for the 7-speed DCT gearbox. That is extremely impressive but it’s not all.

The standing kilometer was done in 22 seconds at 264 km/h (164 mph), once again just 0.1 seconds behind the M division’s claims of 22 seconds flat. The 1/4 mile run was done with in 12.2 seconds at 191.5 km/h (119 mph) basically on the same level as an M5 that has 560 HP at its disposal.

Need some more comparisons? From the looks of things, the new M3 is more than dangerously close to its bigger brother. The 0-200 km/h (124 mph) sprint is done with in 13.4 seconds while the V8-powered sedan takes 0.4 seconds less. Is it fast enough for you considering the fact that the M3 starts at $62,000 and the M5 at $92,900?
