Audi has come to the conclusion that people were fond of the work it has done to give the R8 its 2014 model year revamp, so the Germans have decided to throw in some new goodies for the 2015 model year. The list is led by an upcoming performance package, so we’re all ears.
The info was dropped earlier today, when Audi announced the 2015 model year pricing for its entire line-up. For now, we are being teased, since the automaker didn’t release any info on the model, only stating the “R8 model line will also feature a new Limited Edition performance package.”

The limited edition aspect is precisely what the R8 lost with the 2014 facelift. This saw the R8 V10 Plus (pictured above) replace the previous flagship, the R8 GT, of which only 333 units were built. Still, we mustn't forget the previously announced 2015 Audi R8 LMX. Packing 562 hp (570 PS) and its BMW-battling laser headlights, this comes as a range-topping limited edition.

As for the rest of the changes brought the 2015 model year refresh, we’re glad to let you know the R8 V10 S-Tronic receives a new sports exhaust option. The love life of the V10 and double-clutch will become more of a public affair. Nice.

New exterior and interior hue / trim options complete the list of updates for 2015 Audi R8 range. Mind you, the pricing has been increased to. The base V8 manual Coupe and Spyder are now US$ 1,000 more difficult to acquire, retailing for US$ 115,900 and US$ 128,400. At the other end of the scale, we find the aforementioned R8 V10 Plus, which has jumped a hefty US$ 3,000 to US$ 173,500. The 2015 R8 range is set to hit showrooms across the us this summer.

2015 means the end of the road for the current R8, as next year will bring us the second generation of the German supercar. While we did enjoy the bonkers sides of the R8, such as the sound and the tail happiness, we can’t say we’d like to see it aging even further on the market. Issues such as questionable high speed stability are our reasons.

The only thing we will miss is the six-speed manual. Just like the 2014 R8 killed off the single-clutch automated manual R-Tronic, replacing it with the S-Tronic, the 2016 Audi R8 will do away with the manual tranny. Then again, it will also follows the Huracan’s lead, shedding weight and adding power. Invitation accepted.
