Following the debut of the 610 hp Lamborghini Huracan, it's all too easy to get excited about Audi's replacement for the R8. This highly successful sportscar model is currently searching for itself, where else but at the place where all Bildungsroman books about fast cars are written: at the Nurburgring.
Our spies have once again managed to get a sneak peak of what's to come and one of the pages they've stolen from the quattro authors shows the design of a crisp new interior. More specifically, the inner door cad is in full view. There's nothing to write home about and the fact that a speaker is exposed worries us that the R8 might get fake exhaust in its cabin.

As for the rest of the interior, it's pretty much guaranteed to feature an all-digital speedometer, like the Huracan and the smaller new TT coupe.

Speculation about the R8's powertrains is ripe and will most likely continue to be so until the debut. Initially, reports suggested carryover 4.2-liter V8 and 5.0-liter V10 units. But a recent prototype testing at the Nurburgring seemed to have produce the sound of a turbocharger… or two.

The chassis Audi has planned for the car is both a little bit lighter and bigger. The prototype is visibly wider and lower than the current generation, meaning handling could be something special. But don't blindly take our word for it, just check out our spy photos in the gallery below.
