A fortnight after they dropped the 2014 Range Rover Evoque on us and announced this would have a 9-speed auto option, the Brits also came forth with the 2014 Discovery SUV, also know as the LR in the US.
As you guys can probably see already, the new model year has different headlights, which will make it recognizable. Most of the changes are gathered at the front, where the grille, bumper, daytime running lights and fog lights have been redesigned to replicate the Range Rover. What's more, they've introduced new wheel designs and a Black Design Pack like the one on the Evoque. This gives you some gloss black goodies and tinted windows.

On the engine front, they've tuned the SDV6 3.0-liter diesel to be more efficient. With the ZF 8-seed auto, CO2 emissions have dropped from 230 grams to 213 grams per kilometer. The V6 engine still produces 256 PS and 600 Nm, being capable of taking the car from 0 to 60 mph in 8.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). Combined mpg on the UK cycle is 35.3 (8.0 l/100km), which isn't that awesome, but you've got to remember this is the old Discovery platform used by the RR Sport. The 2014 Discovery tips the scales at 2570 kg.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
