Besides the all-new Forte Koup, the other big arrival at the New York Auto Show this year is the significantly refreshed and updated Kia Soul for the 2014 model year.
The new Soul has completely different proportions, longer, wider and stiffer than the old one. Kia goes as far as to call it a completely different car, though that's a little strange considering the 'first-generation' has been with us only since 2008.

The design is heavily inspired by the Tack'ster Concept unveiled in 2012 at the Chicago Auto Show. It's a beautiful vehicle, somewhere between being a small crossover and a lifestyle vehicle, like the MINI.

The engine options (for the US market) begin with a 1.6 GDI rated at 130 hp and 118 lb-ft (160 Nm) of torque, followed by a 2.0 GDI. These will almost certainly be fitted with six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. The suspension has also been improved by the addition of new McPherson strut front and a torsion bar rear architecture.

For the official word on the new Soul, check out the press release below.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
