Word has it the brand-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee will receive some SRT treatment in the near future, which means the highly-controversial SUV could become available with at least 300 HP under the bonnet.
According to Allpar, the Cherokee SRT is likely to be an all-wheel drive version and use the same nine-speed automatic transmission. Engine information is still unknown, but Allpar claims the SUV could be fitted with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 Pentastar mill that could provide 375 to 410 HP (single or twin-turbo respectively).
Our source is also talking about Maserati’s twin-turbo V6 and Chrysler’s turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder as other options for the Cherokee SRT, but both scenario are very unlikely. Nothing else is known about the upcoming beefed up Cherokee, but stick around for more info on the subject.
