Dodge has announced that the Journey crossover in SE trim with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine under the hood is now available with an all-wheel drive system. Priced from $24,895, not including destination, the SE V6 AWD reduces the entry-level price for AWD-equipped Journeys by $1,800.
Offered as the standard unit on the Limited and R/T models and as an option on the SE, SXT and Crossroad version, the familiar 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 generates 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

When mated to the Journey’s six-speed automatic transmission, the mill returns up to 24 miles per gallon on the highway in AWD and 25 mpg in FWD.

“The Dodge Journey set an all-time sales record in the United States in 2013,” said Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of the Dodge brand. “We want to build on that sales momentum, offering levels of performance – 283 best-in-class horsepower, 24 miles per gallon, all-weather capability – our competitors can’t touch at this price point.”

As for the all-wheel drive system, it comes with an electronically controlled coupling (ECC) system that sends torque to the rear wheels when cornering at speeds greater than 25 mph under open throttle. When the vehicle is traveling at more than 53 mph under normal driving conditions, the ECC provides minimal torque to the rear wheels, improving fuel economy.

The entry-level 2014 Journey (American Value Package) starts from $19,990, while the range-topping R/T model begins at $28,995.
