The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe will be used as a pace car at this year’s Indy 500 car. Surprised? You shouldn't be, ‘cause Chevy has been pacing the famous event for 12 consecutive years now.
So while this piece of news coming from Road&Track is not shocking by any means, it confirms (mostly) the fact that America’s ultimate sportscar will run around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the end of May.
Nothing official yet, but our source claims there’s no way the 2014 Corvette won’t be on the track at the Indy 500. To strengthen their speculation, Road&Track also posted a photo of the car practicing as a pace car, with camo covering the place where the “Official Pace Car” script was positioned. The Vette also sports strobes in the front apron and a rear light bar, which was fitted in the cabin.
The 2013 Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to take place on May 26, with Dario Franchitti as the defending champion.
