Not the most exciting tuning project we've ever seen, we'll admit that, but the brand new C4 Picasso is interesting enough for us to consider a second glance. The Citroen MPV is proving extremely popular with customers in Western Europe, some of who might want it with a little extra go-power.
The 1.6 HDI diesel is going to be the bread and butter of the lineup, which made it the perfect place to start for French chip tuners ShifTech Engineering. In stock form, the Picasso puts down 114.6 hp and 293 Nm of torque on the dyno, which is actually more than officially stated. After the remap, its numbers become a little more impressive.
134.2 hp are available from the 1.6 e-HDI, not to mention 324 Nm of torque from 2,400 revs. That brings it in line with similar engines from Opel or Renault. Not that you should go drag racing in the family minivan, but this Picasso's 0 to 100 km/h might have dropped to somewhere in the high 10s from 11.8 with a manual.
It's no every day you see a funky French box on the dyno, so share with a friend… preferably a French friend who likes cars… and has a large family.
