Launched about a month and a half ago in Munich, just so that BMW could take a look at what its competitors from Stuttgart are creating (according to Dieter Zetsche, ed), the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is having its first actual meeting with the public at the Geneva Motor Show 2014.
With an interior that is heralded by many as an S-Class for up to eight people, the luxury MPV replaces the Mercedes-Benz Viano, which was also sold as the V-Class on certain markets.

This fact would make the recently-launched V-Class at its third generation, with the first model appearing back in 1996 and being the first ever Mercedes-Benz with front-wheel drive.

Thankfully, the new MPV is rear-wheel drive, with the addition of 4Matic all-wheel drive model to happen sometime later in its life span.

“The new V-Class demonstrates that an elegant and dynamic appearance is also possible in size XXL,” said Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans and former CEO of Mercedes-AMG at the model's unveil. “The V-Class is a versatile, multitalented vehicle which offers value, efficiency and safety at the highest level. As a result we are addressing a completely new customer group - among them those who are in need of a generous amount of space but never wanted to drive an MPV because style, a sense of well-being and also ride comfort have so far been lacking in this segment.”

When the new model hits the market in May 2014, it will be available with two wheelbase versions and no less than three lengths, with the longest variant to measure 5140 mm (202.4 inches) – or about the same as the current S-Class W222. Pricing will start at EUR 42,900 including VAT in Germany.
