It’s not easy being a 2014 BMW X5. Everyone has high expectations from you and you simply have to deliver. Not because your reputation’s at stake but rather because your price tag doesn’t allow you to be anything but perfect.
The time we spent with the brand new 2014 BMW X5 M50d proved that sometimes life will simply disappoint you. Sure, the engine-gearbox duo is the best in its class, delivering unbelievable power and torque but when it comes to the premium segment, it’s not enough.
Off road, the car will struggle in big puddles due to its ground clearance and the perfectible xDrive AWD system whilst on the road, the hard suspension and the wary steering that lacks any sort of feedback might make you feel awkward.
As we said, it’s not easy being the new BMW X5 but it’s not all bad. The car has some advantages over its competition all of them laid down in our 2014 BMW X5 test drive.
